During the early 1990's the concept of 'lifetime' finishes was introduced to the premium hardware market. Over the course of the last twenty years, the finish has been refined and provides an extended life to finishes when compared to lacquer finishes. The parts are polished and buffed, then plated with trivalent chrome. Prior to processing the parts in the PVD (physical vapor deposition) the parts are color buffed and continue through two more cleaning steps to ensure they are ultra clean. The PVD process essentially provides a thin, durable coating which appears as brass tone over the chrome base providing corrosion resistance.
